Big Ben is the nickname for the Great Bell of the striking clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster. The tower itself is officially known as the Elizabeth Tower, renamed in 2012 to mark the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II.

Completed in 1859, the tower stands 96 metres tall and has become the most iconic symbol of London and the United Kingdom.
